About Caryn Cook

With over 14 years experience working in the video game industry, both as a Technical Artist and as Visual Effects Artist, the majority of my time has been spent working in the Unreal Engine, including Unreal 5. I have managed a team of VFX artists, providing artistic and technical feedback in addition to mentorship. I communicate broadly across the art and gameplay teams and with the directors to create the shared vision and cohesive gaming experience. By proactively identifying issues in scope, scheduling and task dependencies, while collaborating with other departments, I swiftly remedy bottlenecks in the schedule and mitigate risks to deliverable deadlines. In addition to my lead responsibilities and production due diligence, I continue my own individual contributions of VFX work in Houdini, Niagara, and creating node-based materials for character abilities, enemies, weapons and environmental effects while enhancing the VFX pipeline.

I have always wanted to do something creative with my life and, no matter the medium, I love making art. My additional hobbies include; rock climbing, scuba diving, d&d, creative writing in addition to painting. Over all the years I have worked within the video game industry; I bring my passion, my empathy, my drive into all the tasks I do.
